Impressit: The art of
printmaking

was officially opened on

Friday 1 March, 4-6pm

at the Harris Museum & Art Gallery, Market Square, Preston PR1 2PP

Impressit (which
means ‘has printed’ in Latin) is an exhibition of contemporary printmaking
curated by Pete Clarke, Tracy Hill and Magda Stawarska-Beavan (University of Central Lancashire).

The exhibition explores both traditional printmaking and works which challenge
the ideas of printmaking and the installation of paper works.

Exhibition continues until 27 April.

‘Impressit’ brings together a selection of invited artists in a curated exhibition of works exploring both traditional printmaking processes as well as works which challenge and redefine the ideas of printmaking and installation of paper works. The ‘Impressit’ exhibition held in the 3 main galleries will include ‘the educational printmaking interactive space’, ‘the printmaking invitational’ of selected contemporary artists and new work by UCLan staff Pete Clarke, Tracy Hill and Magda Stawarska-Beavan.

Paul Laidler Talking Prints

We were very pleased to welcome Paul Laidler to the first Talking Prints of this semester. Paul was the first artist to give his presentation at The Harris Museum and Art Gallery as part of the Digital Aesthetics 3 exhibition. The Harris Museum was a great venue for his presentation and Paul gave an informative and honest talk about his research and work in Bristol at the CFPR.

Artlab@Oxhey's Mill

Artlab contemporary print studios are proud to announce their current exhibition at Oxhey’s Mill Studios. To encourage creative thinking about hanging and installation and to make use of all of the possibilities that this unique, industrial venue has to offer, the artists, all members of ArtLab, were given the brief that no conventionally framed work would be accepted. Curated by Tracy Hill, printmaker, artist and senior printmaking technician at ArtLab Contemporary Print Studios at UCLan.

Artlab PrintEssentials opening

On Saturday 26th May Artlab launched its annual exhibition of work at Astley Hall Coach House.

The sun shone and the exhibition was a huge success. Congratulations to all members who took part, the exhibition was a well balanced and professional exhibition showcasing contemporary printmaking in the North West.

Talking Prints – Jo Stockham 23 May 6pm

The talk will take place on Wednesday 23 May in Lecture theatre 1 Victoria Building at UCLan.

Jo Stockham has been professor and head of the Printmaking programme since 2008. She began working at the Royal College of Art in 1993 as a visiting lecturer in Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking. Her background in teaching sculpture and architecture and of running gallery-based workshops and talks contributes to her passion for the interrelatedness of making work and creating spaces for discussion.

Jo has exhibited internationally, often making work from commissions or through residencies that explore the history of a site. Her current writing, publications and prints focus on the implications of virtual technologies. A speculative attitude to making as a form of thinking informs both her work and her teaching.

Artlab Contemporary Print members latest exhibition will take place in the grounds of Astley Hall at the Couch House Gallery from 26^thof May until the 17^th of June. This is a chance to see a showcase current Artlab Contemporary Print members incorporating a diverse range of styles and printmaking techniques. Private View from 11am till 12 noon. Public Opening from 12 noon Saturday 26^th of May. Do pay a visit and enjoy.
